After the sharp rise in crimes reported across the village, the Liberal Democrats have called for a new police station to be opened in Bishop’s Cleeve.
Alex Hegenbarth, Parliamentary candidate for the constituency (right), said “There are real concerns about the lack of neighbourhood policing in the area and the impact this has on community safety. A new police station for Bishop’s Cleeve will help the police support local residents and provide better support for our community.”
Richard Stanley, Lib Dem candidate for Cleeve West added “Our first priority is to reverse the damaging cuts to police numbers but with the closure of Lloyds Bank at The Green, the empty office could potentially be an ideal space for a police station to cover the village and the surrounding area. I hope we can work with Gloucestershire Constabulary to get the effective community policing Bishops Cleeve deserves.”
The Liberal Democrats have long argued for a reversal of damaging Conservative cuts to Police Funding to help them provide the support our communities desperately need.
