Two Lib Dem MEPs elected for the South West

Residents from across the Tewkesbury area backed the Liberal Democrats as the largest pro-EU party during the European Parliamentary elections, helping secure two Lib Dem MEPs to represent the needs of local people.

Caroline Voaden from Somerset and Martin Horwood, former MP for Cheltenham, won nearly 25% of the popular vote in Tewkesbury Borough - second only to the Brexit who secured 37% of the votes cast.

Caroline and Martin join 14 other Liberal Democrat MEPs elected, along with an Alliance MEP elected in Northern Ireland.

The team join the surge of success seen by Liberal parties across the continent, all under the umbrella of Alliance of Liberals and Democrats in Europe (ALDE); the European Parliamentary party which they are all part of.
